FIND WORDS BY LENGTH

Cheaty finds words from letters you actually hold. A result may use some or all of your tiles, and no letter is ever used more often than you entered it — so ONE E in your rack never becomes two on the board. Switch EN / DE to search the English or German word list.

When a board slot only fits a certain count, turn on the LENGTH filter and type a number. Short 5 letter words are the safest fills and usually keep your rack balanced. 6 letter words and 7 letter words open up bonus squares and often clear more awkward consonants at once. 8 letter words and 9 letter words are rarer, but with a blank or a well placed hook they turn a mediocre rack into the play that decides the game. Combine LENGTH with STARTS WITH, CONTAINS or ENDS WITH to hook onto a letter that is already on the board, then sort by SCORE to see which of the remaining candidates is worth the most.

WORD FINDER FAQ

How does the word finder work?

You enter your letters and Cheaty compares them against the selected word list using a character-frequency check. Every word that can be built from some or all of your letters is returned — a letter is never used more often than you entered it.

Can a result use fewer letters than I entered?

Yes. Finder returns words that use some or all of your letters. Enter APPLE and you get APPLE, PALE, LEAP, PEAL, PAL and LAP. Words like PEPPER are impossible because the letters are not available in the required quantities.

Can I find words by length?

Yes. Switch on the LENGTH filter and enter a number to see only 5 letter words, 6 letter words, 7 letter words or any other letter count your tiles allow.

What does the EN / DE switch change?

It changes only the word list the tool searches. EN searches English words, DE searches German words including Ä, Ö, Ü and ß. The website interface always stays in English.

What is the difference between Finder, Dictionary and Anagram?

Finder turns letters into words that use some or all of them. Anagram returns only words that use all entered letters with the exact same letter frequency. Dictionary looks up the meaning of one complete word.
